Step 1
FISHING FEE – pay lakes usually have a small fee they charge for fishing. this fee doesn’t win you any money, this money goes to the lake or pond boss.
Step 2
POTS – besides the fishing fee, pay lakes also offer various money pots that are optional for all fishermen. these pots are how you win money at a pay lake while carp fishing but each one also adds to the cost of carp fishing. there are different pots and different amounts you pay to get on them and the fish you catch are eligible to win money from those pots. in the following steps, i will explain the most common money pots at pay lakes to help you understand what they are and how they work.
Step 3
SEASONAL POTS – pay lakes offer seasonal pots. these money pots are for the biggest fish that is caught over the entire season. it usually doesn’t cost much to get on this pot but since it’s only paid out once during the season and fishermen’s money is collected throughout the season, there can be quite a substantial amount of money in this pot to be won.
Step 4
MONTHLY POTS – these money pots work like the seasonal pots except they are paid out monthly and are paid for the biggest fish caught during that month. they usually don’t cost much but because the money builds up during the month, they can have a lot of money in them to be won.
Step 5
WEEKLY POTS – again, this money pot works like the seasonal and monthly except it is paid out weekly for the biggest fish caught during that week. it also doesn’t usually cost much to get on but can have a good amount of money in it at the end of the week.
Step 6
DAILY BIG FISH POT – pay lakes offer money pots for the biggest fish caught that day. most of the time, they offer them for the 3 or 4 biggest of the day with the biggest fish pot having the most money in it, the second biggest having the second most money, the third having the third most and so on. most of the time, they usually have these pots for the 3 or 4 biggest caught that day. depending on the amount of fisherman and how much the pot costs, there could be a few hundred dollars in this money pot to be won.
Step 7
SMALLEST FISH POT – some pay lakes offer a money pot for the smallest fish caught that day. since this pot is for the smallest fish, it usually doesn’t have a lot of money in it but usually doesn’t cost that much to get on either. it is paid out daily.
Step 8
CLOSEST TO POT – pay lakes often have a money pot that is paid for the fish closest to a certain weight. for example, if the money pot is for the fish caught closest to 16 pounds, then the fish that is closest to that weight without going over will win that pot.
Step 9
JACKPOT FISH – pay lakes often have what are called jackpots. this is a money pot for fish that are caught over a certain weight. the weight is set by the lake and goes according to what has been caught previously. the predetermined weight that is set and the jackpot amount can vary but for example, if a pay lake is offering a jackpot of 100.00 for any fish caught that is 18 pounds or over, any fish you catch over 18 pounds will automatically win you 100.00. they usually have two of these pots, one for a 100.00 jackpot fish and another for a 500.00 jackpot fish. the 500.00 jackpot fish will most certainly be set at a much larger weight qualification than the 100.00 jackpot.
Step 10
JUG FISH – these are money pots where your fish have to weigh an even weight. most of the times, they are set at 18.0, 19.0, 20.0, 21.0, 22.0, and so forth, but the fish must weigh an even amount. it cannot be 18.3 or an odd amount like that. because these pots are usually harder to win and won less often, there is usually quite a large amount of money to be won if you win one of these. it can be anywhere from a few hundred dollars to a couple of thousand dollars.
Step 11
DERBY OR HOURLY FISHING – pay lakes often fish what is called a derby. this is where they have money pots that are paid for the biggest and maybe the second biggest fish caught that hour.
for example, if a lake is holding a 5.00 derby for 8 hours, you would have to pay 5.00 for each hour for a total of 8 hours. the cost would be 40.00 just for the hourly fishing and having a chance to win. this price would also be on top of the fishing fee the lake charges and any other pots you get on.
lakes usually divide the money up and pay out at least a couple of places per hour and the amount paid out, depends on the amount of fishermen but all of the money paid into these pots by the fishermen is then supposed to be divided up and paid back out. again, the amount you can win here depends on the amount of fishermen and how much the derby is for.
